Deciding whether Semrush is still worth it for you
- List the modules you useBe honest about the last three months.
- Price those jobs separatelyUse the tool pages on this site.
- Compare yearly totalsInclude extra users and add-ons.
Semrush is one of the more expensive SEO suites, so its pricing is worth checking carefully before you subscribe or renew. We could not confirm a specific 2026 price change on Semrush’s own pricing page, so this article doesn’t state old or new prices. The plan table on our Semrush page shows the current prices and the date they were checked.
What to Check Before You Pay
- Which plan you actually need. Semrush’s plans differ in limits such as projects, tracked keywords and report results. Match the plan to your real workload rather than the feature list.
- Monthly vs annual billing. Annual billing is usually cheaper per month. Compare both in the plan table.
- Add-ons. Some modules and extra users cost more on top of the base plan. Check what your workflow needs before assuming it’s included.
- Renewal terms. If you’re an existing subscriber, check the price you’ll pay at renewal, not just the price for new customers.
Who Feels the Cost Most
Solo bloggers and freelancers feel it hardest. If you’re only using Semrush for keyword research, you’re paying for a broad suite when a dedicated keyword tool such as Mangools sits in a much lower price tier.
Agencies are less affected because the per-project economics still work when you’re billing clients.
What Are the Alternatives?
If Semrush’s price is more than your workflow justifies, here are the main options:
- SE Ranking: an all-in-one alternative at a lower price tier, covering keyword research, rank tracking, site audit and backlinks.
- Mangools: if you only need keyword research, KWFinder is a focused, lower-cost option.
- Serpstat: a budget all-in-one. Fewer refinements, but capable.
Compare current prices for all three in their plan tables.
Our Take
Our view: Semrush suits people who use several of its modules regularly, such as keyword research, site audit, position tracking and backlink analysis. If that’s you, the breadth can justify the cost. If you only use keyword research, it’s worth exploring cheaper options.
